Dr. Weihong Tan, the Louise Jackson Professor of Chemistry at the University of Florida, was invited as ‘2013 Distinguished Professor of the Institute of Creativity’ by Prof. Aiping Lu (Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine and Director of IBTS) to deliver two lectures on April 29~30, 2013. Dr. Tan’s topics were ‘Novel applications of bio-nanotechnologies in bioanalysis and biomedicine’ and ‘The foundation of molecular medicine: A chemical biology approach’, respectively.
Especially, Dr. Tan discussed the details about how to use Cell-SELEX techniques to screen aptamer for advancing targeted delivery of nature product from Chinese herb. In addition, Dr. Tan also shared his group’s research work from ‘The State Key Laboratory of Chemo / Biosensing and Chemometrics, located in Hunan University’, which has been published in PNAS 2013. Excitingly, most of principal investigators in the School of Chinese Medicine expressed strong interest to collaborate with Dr. Tan. Hopefully, Dr. Tan and Prof. Lu were seeking to establish further link between the School of Chinese Medicine and ‘The State Key Laboratory of Chemo / Biosensing and Chemometrics’, located in Hunan University.
