Dr. Jiake Xu is currently Winthrop Professor and Head of Laboratory in the School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the UWA. He is also a founding Fellow, Faculty of Science, the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia, and has been appointed the President of the Australian and New Zealand Orthopaedic Research Society (ANZORS).
Prof. Jiake Xu was invited by Prof. Aiping Lu (Dean of SCM and Director of IBTS) and Dr. Ge Zhang (Deputy Director of IBTS) to visit the institute on November 17, 2012. During his visiting, Prof. Xu introduced the excellent research work from his laboratory and delivered a lecture titled with ‘Angiogenic Factors in Bone Local Environment’. Prof. Jiake Xu was seeking to establish further cooperation between the School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the UWA and IBTS at HKBU on the basic research for the pathological mechanism on bone-related disease, such as osteoporosis, osteonecrosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
